This is my first blog post, and it is a plea to white persons - in most cases white males, to examine their fear.
Their fear of black males.
Black males don't want to hurt you. They want to BE you.
They want to be invisible as they shop in stores and walk down the block.
They want to go about their daily lives without having to think that suspicious eyes will single them out.
They want to believe that their children can drive, walk, or play without drawing the attention of law enforcement, and if they break the speed limit or break a window with a baseball or talk rudely, that they will not be executed for it by those who have taken an oath to serve and protect.
I, too, am afraid.
I am afraid of the most powerful white male in the United States, and what he may yet do to damage our democracy.
However you stand, liberal left, or conservative right, I beg you to awaken to the danger of his disregard for our long held traditions, and in many cases, written law.
Last night he held a political event in his own interest, using taxpayer money and on Government property. YOU paid for this event, in the salaries of white house staff and his co-opting of the House that is supposed to belong to all Americans. I was sickened to watch him make a dictator's entrance down the staircase of OUR house. And throw it in our faces: "I'm here, you're not."
Finally, I am afraid, very afraid of what is yet to come. He has repeatedly shown that the more he gets away with, the more he will do. Lying, distorting, appropriating the justice department, the FDA, and the CDC.
That's what I am afraid of. How about you?
Trump is not a peacemaker, it's simply not in his make-up, his speech, heart, psyche. He was raised to be a bully, and a bulldozer, worse still, he is fueled by the imbalance of narcissism. Something has to change, we must call this nation to VOTE.
