Conservative Republicans and anti-abortion politics
First of all, I don’t call it “pro-life” because it’s obvious they don’t care a fig for many lives. Second, their strategy has been to chip away at Roe v Wade over the years, restricting availability of abortion to lower income women. Here’s what puzzles me. How they can be so concerned for the unborn children of these women, but have no problem allowing those same children to live in hunger and poverty by gutting welfare?
Fear of socialism
Why is socialism worse than fascism? It seems to me it should be fear of totalitarianism. Or extremism. I don’t want to lose my rights to any autocratic government. I don’t want Stalin or Hitler. And I REALLY don’t want Trump. One other thought in this vein: isn’t there such a thing as a social democracy? Sweden seems like it is doing really well and they have balanced socialism in their government without the dire consequences feared here.
